ULDs are dot-root experimental TLDs. If they support projects with test traffic, their mnemonic is aliased with a "charter SLD". Example: ".atlarge" and ".atlarge.ws".

Local access to ULD is provided by Telcos and ISPs sharing the dot-root experimentation and at participating Universities and intranets. Otherwise one can use their associated charter SLDs or resolve using a dot-root name server.
